HANDBOOK ON TUNNELS AND UNDERGROUND WORKS
The "Handbook on Tunnels and Underground Works" is a three-volumes book edited by SIG (Italian Tunnelling Society) and published by CRC Press - Taylor & Francis Group.
This book set provides a new, global, updated, thorough, clear, and practical risk-based approach to tunnelling design and construction methods, and discusses detailed examples of solutions applied to relevant case histories. It is organized in three sequential and integrated volumes:
- Volume 1. Concept - Basic Principles of Design;
- Volume 2. Construction - Methods, Equipment, Tools and Materials;
- Volume 3. Case Histories and Best Practices.
The book covers all aspects of tunnelling, giving useful and practical information about design, construction and best practices.
Volume 1 was published in 2021 and Volume 2 - Construction: Methods, Equipment, Tools and Materials is now also available in all the best bookshops and on-line.
Within the framework of Volume 2, our C.E.O. and Technical Director Vittorio Manassero co-autored Chapter 2 (Construction methods) and Chapter 4 (Auxiliary methods technology: ground reinforcing, ground improving and pre-support technology).
